Benfica Museum
At the Luz stadium, 29 themed areas and hundreds of trophies tell Benfica's story, from its European Cups to the club's many other sports.
Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião – Sport Lisboa e Benfica Stadium
Next to the Sport Lisboa e Benfica stadium at Luz, the Benfica Museum – Cosme Damião opened in July 2013 and is named after one of the founders of the club, established in 1904. It is the public face of the work of Benfica's Cultural Heritage Department, which preserves, studies and promotes the collection gathered since the club's foundation, coming mainly from competitions in its many sports, gifts from other clubs and institutions, and donations from members, former athletes and directors. The permanent exhibition is arranged in 29 themed areas over three floors. A display case running through the whole building holds more than six hundred trophies from sports other than football, while other areas are devoted to the National Championship, first won in 1935/36, youth football, the Lisbon regional competitions and international honours, notably the 1950 Latin Cup and the two European Champion Clubs' Cups of 1961 and 1962. There are also spaces devoted to the 'Black Panther' and other club legends, to the presidents, and to Benfica's history alongside that of Lisbon, Portugal and the world, with interactive tables and content. The museum also runs temporary exhibitions, guided tours and educational and family activities. It is closed on days when the men's football team plays at the stadium.
