Fábrica Braço de Prata – former War Materials Factory
In Marvila, beside Rua da Fábrica de Material de Guerra, the Fábrica Braço de Prata occupies the building that was the administration site of the former war materials factory. Its official website describes it as a half-abandoned building where nobody quite knows what the Factory is, and lists twelve mutant rooms that serve as concert halls, art galleries, cabinets of curiosities, a film studio, a fine-art studio, a goldsmith's workshop, a second-hand clothes shop, dining rooms, a bar or bookshops. Turismo de Lisboa presents it as a cultural centre housed in this former factory since 2007, with more than ten multi-purpose rooms for concerts, galleries, cinema, visual-arts studios and dining. Linked to an agenda of concerts, exhibitions, classes, talks and fairs, it also publishes the magazine Desarmada and runs a music school. Evenings and exhibitions vary, so it is wise to check the agenda before going. The hours published by Turismo de Lisboa are late-night, from Wednesday to Saturday, but the official website consulted neither confirms them nor gives a telephone number, and part of its content dates from 2020, so the hours should be confirmed with the venue.
