Miguel Bombarda Museum – Miguel Bombarda Hospital (Outsider Art)
The Miguel Bombarda Museum operated within the Miguel Bombarda Hospital in Lisbon, housed in the former Convent of Rilhafoles, and was tied to the preservation of the outsider art produced in the context of the psychiatric hospital. The hospital complex was classified as a Property of Public Interest in 2010, the year the hospital unit closed, at the end of the year. In the following years the museum received visitors on Wednesday mornings and Saturday afternoons, with free admission, according to the page of the association that promoted it. Over time it opened only sporadically, until its definitive closure in 2018, according to the press. The museum is currently closed to the public, with no visiting hours and no planned reopening date. Information from official sources is scarce and out of date, so this entry should be read as a record of a museum that once existed and of a heritage complex that remains on Rua Doutor Almeida Amaral, in Lisbon.
