Instituto Superior Técnico Civil Engineering Museum

On the ground floor of Técnico’s Civil Engineering Pavilion at the Alameda campus, this museum introduces the history and working tools of engineering. In 2026 it hosts “Portuguese Bridges: A Tribute to Edgar Cardoso”, curated by Júlio Appleton and devoted to Portuguese bridges, particularly the work of the engineer and former Técnico professor Edgar Cardoso. Models, drawings, photographs, books, medals and films document structures from the Roman period to the twentieth century. The visit connects bridges encountered in everyday life with the processes of design and construction behind them. The exhibits were assembled during the curator’s professional career and help make the technical solutions used in bridges understandable. The exhibition is scheduled to remain open until 22 December 2026, with visits on weekdays.
