Torel Garden occupies a hillside above the Avenida da Liberdade valley, looking towards São Roque and São Pedro de Alcântara Garden. Its origins lie in an old estate incorporated into a municipal leisure space during the twentieth century. The terrace reveals how buildings and gardens follow the slope between Santana Hill and the city centre. It has the character of a neighbourhood garden, with places to sit and paths suited to a quiet pause. Access is from Rua Júlio de Andrade and follows the garden’s opening hours; reaching it does not require using the Lavra funicular.
