Santa Luzia Viewpoint
In Jardim Júlio de Castilho, the Santa Luzia viewpoint brings the Tagus close to Alfama’s rooftops. The pergola, climbing plants and tile panels shape the experience as much as the churches rising above the neighbourhood. The towers of São Miguel, houses descending towards the waterfront and the dome of Santa Engrácia stand out in the panorama. Beside Santa Luzia Church, tiles recall the former Praça do Comércio and the conquest of São Jorge Castle. This is an outdoor public space, close to Portas do Sol but with its own garden and terrace setting. Visiting the viewpoint does not require entering the church.
