Beside Senhora do Monte Chapel, this viewpoint brings São Jorge Castle, Mouraria, Baixa and the Tagus into one panorama. Across the valley, São Roque, the Carmo ruins and other high points of the centre can be distinguished, while to the north the city extends along more recent avenues. Cypresses, olive trees and pines frame the viewing area. The visit offers both a wide outlook and a way to compare Lisbon’s hills and understand the terrain that shapes the city. The square is an outdoor public space, and visiting it is independent of the chapel’s opening hours.
