Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen Viewpoint – Graça

The viewpoint beside Graça Church is named after the poet Sophia de Mello Breyner Andresen, although it remains widely known by its neighbourhood’s name. Pine trees, benches and paving create a terrace facing São Jorge Castle, Mouraria and Baixa. The panorama extends towards the river, São Pedro de Alcântara Garden and the western districts. The church and former convent frame the square, but visiting the viewpoint is independent of entering those buildings. Its hillside position makes it a useful stop on a walk continuing towards Senhora do Monte or descending through Mouraria.
