Fernando Maurício House Museum – Mouraria

On Rua João do Outeiro, the Fernando Maurício House Museum keeps alive the voice of one of Mouraria’s leading fado singers. Open to the public since July 2015, it is run by the Santa Maria Maior parish council, with museum design by the Fado Museum and a collection donated by António da Piedade. The visit brings together the singer’s complete discography, films of live performances and interviews, offering a chance to hear and follow the career of the man known as the “King of Fado”. Born in Mouraria in 1933, Fernando Maurício began singing as a child, and his interpretation remained closely tied to the neighbourhood’s streets and everyday life. The venue also forms part of the Lisboa Mauriciana trail and hosts events honouring the artist. Admission is free, and guided visits can be arranged.
