atmosfera m Lisboa – Montepio Associação Mutualista
On Rua Castilho, atmosfera m is the cultural centre that Montepio Associação Mutualista opened in Lisbon in 2015, a year after its counterpart in Porto, created in 2014. It presents itself as a place open to everyone, devoted to citizenship, culture and leisure, where visitors can drop in for a coffee, study quietly or simply look around. The exhibition space promotes the visual and plastic arts, with particular attention to work by members, partners and social-economy organisations, and serves as a meeting point between artists and the community. The building also houses a 68-seat auditorium suited to debates, conferences, discussion evenings, intimate concerts and film screenings, training rooms for workshops and short courses, a library with 16 seats, open to the public, and the Café do Próximo. The programme, published in its own listings, combines exhibitions, film seasons such as Claquete, concerts, poetry and events such as the Regional Produce Market; in October 2026 it opens the drawing exhibition "Pequeno Teatro da Condição Humana" by Amaro della Quercia. It opens on weekdays only, closing at weekends and on public holidays.
